Universal null modem cable for RS232, 20 meters

Normally, you cannot connect the COM ports on two PCs to each other, as they are both DTE type (see chapter 12), but using a null modem cable can be done. The null modem cable "crosses" the transmit and receive wires so that two DTE units (PCs or other types of terminals) or two DCEs can be put together. Additionally, Windows supports direct cable connection through the serial port. At each end, one DB9 female connector and one DB25 female connector are mounted so that the cable can be used on PCs with both types of serial ports.
